I have always wanted to purchase this fine player ever since I became serious about purchasing a Blu-Ray Player (as I am in the process of putting together a new Home Theater System). I just want to let Beach Camera know what a commendible job they did in handling my order. I ordered my player on the brink of midnight on Thursday, May 14, 2009 and even with the free shipping and tax free shopping and all, I am pleased to announce that I have received my player on Monday, May 18, 2009 (two days earlier than expected). With this level of Customer Service and the prompt shipment of my order, they pretty much earned my business as a customer, and I will be doing business with them again in the future.Great Job Beach Camera.
When I got the item it had software version 1.08 and things did not go well: Very Slow and no sound during the movie. Upgraded to 1.25 and things are very much better.Went to the pioneer site for the downloading instructions. all went exactly as scripted.
This player has everything that I was looking for in a player. Buying through Amazon assured me of getting the best possible price. It delivers better than movie theater surround sound.
It has all the latest high definition sound formats including Dolby HD and DTS. The only complaint that I have is the remote control which is not illuminated. I wanted a player that could not only deliver a great picture but great sound as well.
I have since added an hdmi receiver with the same pre-amp features and even more options. Since my sound system is a dedicated, non intergrated arrangement, it has all the necessary pre-amp style dedicated outputs. I simply plug them into the dedicated power amplifiers themselves and allow the player to all decoding.
I don't use the supplied remote any more since I purchased a full featured illuminated universal remote control that operates my entire system. I am more than happy with my purchase.
i returned the item and pick the latest model bd-p3600 hoping it will ease the problem, lo and behold the color don't look the same.I'm not satisfied with it and exchange it with Pioneer. I have a new Samsung LCD TV which is great in detail in all Video and Audio so watching movies will be the first thing to see the real color of the screen. I pick the Pioneer player, hook it up and set and were amazed with the Video detail and sharpness of color, the Audio is superb and hooking up with my Home theater is a breeze, all i can say is wow, wow and my wife wow too.The con for this player is,it load really slow up to 4 minutes after you place the movies, you can slide your pop-corn in the oven, wait for it and the movies is still not loading. I bought the Blu-ray player and of course Samsung will be the perfect choice like the model Bd-p2500 same company with the same video circuitry. i play and watch but it only short lived the excitement because the blu-ray froze in every 20 mins. i upgrade the firmware hoping it will solve the problem , still, nothing. I wish they can fix this slow loading and solve this issue in the future or by sending another upgrade to solve the problem. Will i recommend this item, Yes, if you have a patience waiting to load the movies in 4 minutes otherwise find a different player but for me i stick to this item beside the price is affordable to me.Have FunNat
I've had enough friends who got low-end DVD players that broke in the first year, but I didn't want to splurge on a high-end Blu-ray player. The one caveat is that this is not the most recent version of the Pioneer Bluray (hence the discount), so it lacks internet connectivity. The discount on this one was great, and Pioneer is a great brand. The system is very intuitive and the picture on my new Samsung 40" is very clear. This means your firmware updates will have to be transferred by CD from the Pioneer website and you will not have access to BD Live content. The newer version of this player has a USB drive and ethernet port, so if that's worth an extra $100 to you, you should probably get that one.
